FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What are the requirements? In order to apply you must be at least 18yrs of age by August 1 of they year your applying, be a student in good standing at an institution of higher learning, be at least 2nd generation Hispanic/Latina, be single (never married or with-child), & be an active member of your community.
2. Is there a minimum GPA? Though there is not a minimum requirement, your GPA does count toward the overall points and it is recommended that each candidate try to maintain above a 2.0.
   
3. How do I apply? There are a two parts to the application process 1st is to submit the online interest form, then attend the orientation, where you will receive the paper version of the official scholarship application form.
   
4. What is the interest form? The interest form is a basic form you fill out online via the "Scholarship" page, with your basic contact information and information about the school you attend. It is important that you put  your correct information as this will be the only way we have to communicate to you and ensure that you are included in emails pertaining to the scholarship program. Your information is NOT sold or distributed to any 3rd parties.
   
5. Is there an application? The application itself will be available the day of the orientation after a "commitment" form is filled out by each participating candidate.
6. Can I see an old application? Certainly! There is an application form from 2010 that is available FOR REFERENCE ONLY. Though the dates and the format of the selection process may change, the requirements, essays, letters of recommendation etc will all be required. Get a head start on those! 7. Is there an application fee? There will be an application fee, to cover overhead costs (printing, materials for workshops, snacks etc.) The fee for 2012 will be determined by the number of total candidates applying.
   
8. When will I know if I'm accepted? If you meet the minimum requirements as stated in #1, you are automatically accepted to attend the orientation to learn more about the program, ask questions and decide if this is the right scholarship program for you.
   
9. What do I do after I fill out the online interest form? After you fill out the online interest form you will be contacted by the scholarship program director or staff informing you of receipt of your interest form and further information as available.
   
10. When is the Orientation? The orientation is tentatively set for January 21st. Location and time are to be determined. All prospective candidates who have filled out the online interest form will be informed by January 14th of the time and location.
    
11. What if I go to school out-of-state? If you are a Washington State resident, attending an out-of-state college or University, you are still eligible As long as you are available for the mandatory workshops, events, and during the summer from July to August.

1. Cuáles son los requisitos? Para poder solicitar, debe ser mayor de 18 años de edad antes del 1ro de agosto, ser estudiante con buen récord académico, ser por lo menos segunda generación hispana/latina, ser soltera (nunca casada y sin compromiso), y ser activa en la comunidad.
2. Cuál es el mínimo promedio académico para competir? Aunque no requirimos una cantidad en específica, su promedio si cuenta para el gran total de la puntuación en la selección de la reina y recomendamos que cada candidata mantenga su promedio por encima de 2.0.
   
3. Cómo solicito? Hay dos partes para el proceso de solicitacióon. Primero es enviarnos sus datos en el Formulario de Interés, luego asistir la orientación, donde tendrá una copia en papél de la solicitud para la beca.
   
4. Qué es un "Formulario de Interes"? El formulario de interés es una forma basica la cual se llena en nuestra página de "scholarship", con sus datos básicos e información sobre su escuela/colegio/universidad. Es MUY IMPORTANTE que llene la forma con la información correcta ya que ésta será la única que tendremos para comunicarnos con usted y asegurarnos de que esté incluída en los correos que son pertinentes al programa de becas. Su información NO será vendida ni distribuida a otras personas.
   
5. Hay una solicitud aparte del Formulario? La solicitud de por si, será disponible el día de la orientación luego de llenar y firmar una forma confirmando de su compromiso con el programa de becas.
   
6. Puedo ver una solicitud vieja? Por su puesto, que si! La solicitud del 2010 está disponible SOLO PARA REFERENCIAS. Aunque las fechas y el formato de la selección puede que cambie, los requisitos, ensayos, cartas de referencia etc. seguira siendo parte de la solicitud oficial. 7. Hay que hacer algn pago para solicitar? Habra una pequeña cuota, para cubrir gastos generales (impresión, materiales para los seminarios, comidas etc.) La cuota para el 2012 se determinará a base del número de candidatas participando. 
   
8. Cuándo me avisan si me aceptaron? Si  cumple con los requisitos mínimos como se indica en el # 1, son aceptados automáticamente para asistir a la orientación y aprender más sobre el programa, hacer preguntas y decidir si este es el programa de becas adecuado para usted.
   
9. Qué hago luego de llenar el formulario de interés? Después de llenar el formulario de interés en la web, será contactada por la directora del programa de becas o el personal quien le informara de haber recibido de su formulario de interés y más información cuando esté disponible.
   
10. Cuándo será la orientación? La orientación está tentativamente prevista para el 21 de enero. El lugar y la hora se le comunicará luego. Todas las posibles candidatas que han llenado el formulario en la web serán informadas antes del 14 de enero de la hora y el lugar.
    
11. Que tal si estudio fuera del estado de WA? Si usted es residente del estado de WA, y asiste a una universidad fuera del estado, aun es elegible siempre y cuando está disponible para los seminarios obligatorios, eventos, y durante el verano de julio a agosto.
